Why a one-time price?
Removing a background on your own device doesn’t cost the developer anything per photo: there are no servers doing the work. So there is nothing to meter. Cloud services have real per-image costs, which is one reason they tend to use credits or subscriptions.

Pricing questions
Is there a free trial?
No. It is a paid download with no trial. If you only need a quick cutout to paste or share, try the free Lift Subject feature in Photos first: touch and hold the subject. If it isn’t enough, Apple handles refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Are there any in-app purchases or upgrades?
No. Since version 1.0.4 there are none. Every editing tool and full-resolution export is included for everyone who has the app.
I downloaded an earlier version for free. Do I have to pay now?
No. Update to version 1.0.4 or later and all tools are unlocked. There is nothing to buy or restore.
What does it cost outside the U.S.?
Apple sets local prices for each storefront, including tax where applicable. The App Store shows your price before you buy.
